Our light-weight [around 140 grams], palm-size 12 lead ECG units are very portable and this enables nurses to record 12 lead ECGs from patients' homes and transmit the ECG traces from bedside telephones or via the paired smart-phone. This means attending nurses / doctors can receive an immediate verbal ‘overview’ of the ECG – whilst they are with the patient.
A 12 lead ECG is the primary diagnostic tool for patients who have cardiac complications
Many patients, particularly older ones and particularly those with cardiac problems, have mobility problems which means they cannot easily access a cardiology centre or even a GP surgery.
Nursing teams visit patients at home and the Broomwell-Healthwatch ECG service enables them to carry a mini, light-weight 12 Lead ECG device which they can use to record a 12 lead ECG on the patient at home and transmit it instantly to Broomwell’s expert ECG centre and receive an immediate report.
The combination of a nurse visit and Broomwell’s ECG services raises the level of effectiveness of these visits by enabling immediate, on-the-spot, cardiac diagnostics – a ‘virtual ward’
